After 3 years industry experience in Ankara, Berkay embraced the chance to take a next
step towards a career in academics. At KU Leuven he will dive into the dynamics
of non-linear metamaterials under supervision of Elke Deckers (KU Leuven) and Varvara
Kouznetsova (TU/e). Compared to Ankara, Leuven is more healthy, quiet and
peaceful, he says. Sufficient opportunity to go to the gym and go cycling and
perhaps even pick-up his ice-skating hobby in the near future.
